During the season, he recorded 5 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles (2 recovered) and was 3rd on the team with 57 tackles despite missing 3 games while recovering from surgery on a torn calf muscle. He was also placed on the Honorable Mention list for the 4A Playoff All Star team as he had a game winning interception, 4 passes broken up, 2 forced fumbles and lead his team in tackles in 2 Playoff games.

His senior year saw Millikin go to the playoffs vs. perennial powerhouse Ohio Northern (Ada, OH).

John started writing in high school, submitting sports articles on various athletic squads to the school newspaper, “The Raider Times”. That led into his decision to write for his college newspaper, “The Decaturian” (The Dec), in which he was not only the sports columnist for the Football and Wrestling teams, but also had a Features column as well. During his senior year, he was appointed Co-Editor of the sports section, which won several local awards.
